By supplying crystals with integrated thermistor auris-GmbH offers a cost-efficient alternative for TCXO. The crystal units HR2520 (2.5mm x 2.0mm) and HR2016 (2.0mm x 1.6mm) integrate the thermistor into their ceramic base. Two connection contacts on the 4pin-crystal-enclosures allow the connection to the thermistor.
The product series HR2520 and HR2016 are qualified for cost-efficient miniature applications, where temperature compensation is necessary without using the complexity of TCXO.
In both enclosures are frequencies between 19,2MHz and 26MHz available. The load capacitance amounts 7pF or 9pF, but can also be customer-specified in reliance of the application.
The tolerance at 25°C currently amounts +/-12ppm - customer-specified adaptions are possible too. The temperature tolerance at +/-10ppm is specified between -30°C and +85°C. By placing the thermistor near the crystal, temperatures of the quartz crystal can be identified precisely. Thereby a massive enhancement of the frequency temperature compensation in comparison to usual crystals is possible. The integration of the thermistor into the crystal enclosure also substitutes the use of expensive TCXO components. The usage of HR2520 and HR2016 is ideal for applications in mobile telecommunication, vehicle communication or in navigational systems.
